PROPERTY COMMISSION
2025 Property Commission Annual Report
2025 was filled with several time-consuming projects, which will bring many enhancements to Trinity in 2026 and 2027. Trinity applied for a grant through Sacred Places Indiana a ministry of the Church Buildings for Collaborative Partnerships (CBCP) and funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. The process started with a required survey provided by MartinRiley Architects-Engineers, which served as an outline and a priority list for a variety of possible projects which could fall under the proposed grant.
The four projects to be funded by the grant are:
-
The nave’s stained glass windows will be removed, re-leaded and re-installed by a local vendor.
-
The nave undercroft concrete and steel piers will be re-worked.
-
The exterior stone will be tuck pointed and in a few cases, the stone will be removed and rehung.
-
The fire alarm will get a needed replacement from the current decades-old system.
Because we were required to get multiple bids, we spent months reviewing potential contractors, comparing scopes of work and pricing. Contractors have been selected while we wait for final grant approval to begin work.
We are also researching another grant to replace the windows on the south (alley) side of the building. We have met with four window contractors and have selected the one providing the best product and service for our needs and our money. We are waiting for final grant approval for this project as well, before starting work.
Both of these grants are possible because of the hard work by grant writer church Treasurer Amber Bauer and CBCP Project Director, parishioner Linda Buskirk.
After reviewing prices and services of our current mechanical contractor, we have made a change to a new vendor this year. This company’s employees are becoming more comfortable as they learn our building and meeting the church personnel. The building continues to have the usual plumbing and HVAC issues which we tackle as they occur.
We had a few roof repairs this year, but they were items we anticipated, due to the age of the building. I am pleased with and appreciate the hard work of the commission: Chris Bauer, Elliot Harrod, Jack Koehne, Scott Kummer, Keith Raftree, Jr. Warden Denise Stacy and Mike Weigand. They have been diligent and committed to all of this year’s time-consuming work.
