In addition, she is the author of The Sand Labyrinth: Meditation at Your Fingertips. She is a licensed psychotherapist inthe state of California as well as a Spiritual Director. She speaks and teaches internationallyand offers programs at Chartres Cathedral in France. Artress is an Honorary Canon of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and is the creator of Veriditas, The Worldwide Labyrinth Project, founded in 1996. Veriditas promotes the labyrinth experience as a personal practicefor healing and spiritual maturation, a tool forcommunity building, an agent for global peace, and as a metaphor for the work of the Spirit in our lives. She is a major voice in speaking on behalf of the Labyrinth Movement in the Western World. The goal of this Veriditas Facilitator Training is to prepare people to introduce others to the labyrinth in an articulate, professional and effective way. The training addresses both meditative walking and ceremonial use. It isfocused primarily on the Eleven Circuit Medieval Labyrinth but is inclusive of all forms. Walking the labyrinth is being embraced as aspiritual practice throughout the Western world mostly because of Veriditas trained facilitators. The Veriditas Facilitator Training—which began in 1997—remains the most rigorous and comprehensive training offered. Somepeople take this two day course to deepen their knowledge of labyrinths. Others take it with thegoal of becoming a Veriditas Certified Labyrinth Facilitator. To date, Veriditas has trainedmore than 1,900 labyrinth facilitators—therapists, clergy, hospital administrators, parishteams, doctors, artists and labyrinth enthusiasts—who are introducing the labyrinth to theircommunities. About 600 people are certified facilitators.
